The 3 Democratic rent-to-own congressmen are John Murtha, Jim Moran and Peter Visclosky. These antiwar Democrats see nothing wrong with steering military money to PMA clients. And why not? PMA money made up 20% of Murtha’s war chest, 18% of the Moran money and 33% of the Visclosky dough. For 2008, PMA already has steered $542,500 to the 3 amigos.I'll summarize the current Democrat thinking. We don't like the war in Iraq because a Republican is running it and it's an election year. But DAMN...I mean DAMN....we love the Pork money we can dish out because that helps us stay in Incumbistan!
The Democrats, especially the Democrats running for president, have a problem, and his name is Petraeus. In two days of hearings on Capitol Hill, he probably didn’t change any of the views held by members of Congress about the war in Iraq. But he almost certainly impressed a lot of people sitting at home by displaying all the traits Americans hope for in a military leader. He was, to put it simply, good, a man who came across as brave, honorable, and true, and that’s the problem.
Wow, I want one of those keyboards. Anyone have $1500 they'd loan me for one?!
I sort of hoped the Gen. Petraeus testimony would be a good time to have everyone set politics aside, open their minds and educate themselves on a very very important matter of our foreign policy. Instead, we now have Democrats attacking Gen. Petraeus and groups like MoveOn.org calling him a traitor. If you can't believe a 4 star general with a Princeton Ph.D. that wrote the militaries definitive manual on counterinsurgency, who can you believe? I can't fathom a rational mind not believing someone with Gen. Petraeus's knowledge and experience. This idea that he "cherry picked" data etc.. just makes me think people are crazy and no amount of data or testimony would sway them in their Bush hatred. Because, in reality, all this boils down to is a political war in America. A Republican President went to war and Democrats don't like it. Do you hear Democrats saying anything about money, time or men and women killed in Bosnia? We are still involved in that country if you didn't know. Also, look at the video I linked yesterday, Gen. Petraeus will have a son in Iraq soon. So, if you set aside his experience, including his Defense Distinguished Service Medal, you could at least believe a father sending his son to battle right?
