Is it that the evil right-wingers don't understand it, or that they don't buy it? If we're looking at gondolas floating down Wall Street in 20 years, what good does it do to plant some trees? Are they from Krypton or something? And you're not even planting them yourself, you're buying "carbon offsets" from somebody who tells you they're being planted so you can feel better about yourself. Where are these trees being planted? By whom? How long will it take for these miraculous fast-growing trees to counteract your wastefulness? Hurry! Not to mention that if I can barely afford my electric bill when I keep my thermostat at 68 degrees in the winter and only turn on the lights at night to keep from tripping and breaking my neck when I get up to take a piss, how am I supposed to afford "carbon offsets"? It's great that he's using solar panels and all that, but notice he's not disputing how huge his electric bill still is. What the hell is he doing in there? Is he a Terminator from the future and requires constant recharging? (That would explain pretty much everything.) Oh, and notice that there's "no meaningful debate" about global warming. I believe that's what we call a weasel word. He should just be done with it and patiently explain to us that he has a magic wand that makes everything okay. Some of these dopes would fall for it. "You right-wingers just can't get it through your thick skulls: He's not wrecking the environment like everybody else is because he's a warlock!"

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger also has asked constituents to do their part to conserve energy — including cutting summertime power consumption — even though he takes to the skies on leased executive jets. Aides say there is nothing contradictory between the pro-green pronouncements and the flying habits of the Democratic senator and Republican governor. Some environmentalists aren't so sure. "There appears to be a discrepancy between calling on people to make personal reductions and using a private jet that exacerbates the problem," Clean Air Watch President Frank O'Donnell said.

Gore is using roughly 2000% of the energy of our family of four in a house that's roughly 600% bigger, so basically three times as much energy even after adjusting for square footage.
