   The McDonald's restaurant in Hermiston, Oregon appears to be "outsaucing" customers drive-thru meals.   The restaurant on Highway 395 has outsourced one of the most important jobs at the drive-through window -- order taking. When a customer drives through, they'll be patched through to Grand Forks, North Dakota to place the order. Why? Because the minimum wage in North Dakota is $5.15, compared to Oregon's $7.25.

   Tim Nesbit is head of Oregon AFLCIO. He says this undercuts Oregon's minimum wage by more than $2 an hour. A McDonald's media relations person in Illinois, where the corporate headquarters is based, never returned a phone call to the AP.

If you don't believe that bloggers are giving newspapers a headache, talk to Nick Coleman. A veteran newspaper columnist for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Coleman is in the middle of an old-fashioned feud with one of the leading conservative Web logs in the country.

So far, his battle with Powerlineblog.com — Time magazine's "blog of the year" — has sparked an anger-spewing column by Coleman, an ombudsman's clarification, and a threat by a leading bank to pull advertising from the newspaper.

Moreover, it has confirmed the growing ability of blogs to get under the skin of the mainstream media. "This is just the beginning," an exasperated Coleman warns. "People need to pay attention to [bloggers]. To watch out."

Big Media doesn't like blogs.  I can't say this surprises me.  With Blogs around to point out all the Big Medias flaws/lies/ommissions etc.. I'd probably be upset if someone pointed out all the bad things about me too.

Democrats vote on Dr. Condi Rice

I no longer wonder why Democrats lost this last election in 2004.  Let's look at the Dr. Condi Rice confirmation.  The Democrats roll out a former KKK member who voted against civil rights to speak out about a female black woman taking the highest office a black person has ever had.  Then the Democrats roll out Sen. Kennedy to sink Condi's confirmation, no need to point out Kennedy's past on sinking women.  Then they roll out Sen. Boxer, who is just plain nuts because she thinks she's the victim in all of this.  *sigh*  Looks like the Republicans will  in '06 and '08 and every election year until the Democrats get their heads screwed on right.

Like little babies not getting their way the lefties are throwing temper tantrums.  Boo hoo, you didn't win, you don't like the war, so get violent with army recruiters.  Gee, and the Democrats wonder why the red states voted overwhelmingly for Pres. Bush? 

I think John Powers sums up the Democrats nicely.

The no side, and violent temper tantrum side as well.  Pres. Bush's car was pelted with stuff during the parade yesterday, how freaking pathetic is that?

TSUNAMI-struck Thailand has been told by the European Commission that it must buy six A380 Airbus aircraft if it wants to escape the tariffs against its fishing industry.

While millions of Europeans are sending aid to Thailand to help its recovery, trade authorities in Brussels are demanding that Thai Airlines, its national carrier, pays £1.3 billion to buy its double-decker aircraft.

The demand will come as a deep embarrassment to Peter Mandelson, the trade commissioner, whose officials started the negotiation before the disaster struck Thailand - killing tens of thousands of people and damaging its economy.

Where is Jan Egeland now?  If you remember, he is the Norwegian in charge of disasters at the U.N., you know the guy, the one that called the U.S. stingy.  Where is the world press?  Shouldn't they be chastising the E.U. right now?  Well, no, because this isn't a bash the U.S. story. 

The politics of coming together

Democrats often bash Pres. Bush over his "compassionate conservatism" calling Pres. Bush a divider, not a uniter.  Hmm...let's see what Democrats are doing to unite our country:

The Massachusetts Democrat, Bush's challenger in November, spoke at Boston's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Breakfast. He reiterated that he decided not to challenge the election results, but said "thousands of people were suppressed in the effort to vote."

"Voting machines were distributed in uneven ways. In Democratic districts, it took people four, five, 11 hours to vote, while Republicans [went] through in 10 minutes -- same voting machines, same process, our America," he said.

That is none other than Sen. John Kerry, Mr. Uniter himself.  Link to Source

Sen. Kerry's complaints revolve around Cuyahoga County, which is part of the city of Cleveland, Ohio, the state Sen. Kerry lost by 118,000 votes.  Sen. Kerry fails to mention that Cuyahoga County is run by Democrats, shhhh...that wouldn't help his effort to divide, er...unite, yeah unite  our country.

Social Security & Idiot Politicians

I'm reading about Social Security reform when I come across a quote by Republican Representative Rob Simmons of Connecticut, a moderate. 

"When does the program go belly up? 2042, I will be dead by then"

*sigh* This is the problem with politicians, they could care less what happens down the road, as long as they keep getting re-elected.  Well, Mr. Simmons, if all goes well, I should be in my 70s in 2042 and I'd like my money back, I'm sure your children would like theirs too and your granchildren would as well.  IDIOT!
